I have a confession to make. Nicholas wasn’t my first love. I know…shocker. My first love was music. Music has been my saving grace for as long as I can remember. It has been there while I was happy and while I was blue.
My mind is filled with storylines. You can say I have an active imagination. Music is the perfect background to my daydreams. I start off every day with music. It’s with me in the shower, in the car, and as I fall asleep.
My music education started at a young age. Every family function had music and depending on who was babysitting me, I was exposed to a different music genre. Hip-Hop from my cousins, old R&B from my older cousins, Tejano and Motown from my mom, 1960’s Rock-n-Roll from my dad, and country from my aunts. The only genres I introduced to, myself were modern Pop and EDM.
It’s hard for me to pick one type of favorite music. I can listen to an Eminem song, and then the next song is a Pistol Annies country ballad. I had three posters in my first apartment: Rat Pack, Eminem, and Justin Timberlake.
My love for music grew in the 4th grade. I joined choir and was in choir until 12th grade. I was in a women’s advanced choir for three years and had to audition every year. 🙂 I was fascinated about how voices came together. How composers can write the perfect note. How lyrics can make you cry, make your soul shake.
Join me on Spotify. I would love to share playlists. I want you to help me expand my musical education. May you all have some music in your heart.
Hugs and Smiles,
